The smartwatch will use Xiaomi’s own operating system
Xiaomi has unveiled its first smartwatch which strikes resemblance with Apple Watch. The The Chinese electronics behemoth has named its watch Mi Watch aimed directly at its competitor Apple. Mi Watch has a square body with a crown and a button exactly like Apple Watch. The watch has a 1.78 inch AMOLED display which supports always-on abilities and operates on MIUI, which is the company’s own operating system build on the basis of Google OS.
The watch has metal housing aluminum alloy with a matte finish has two ports to engage microphones on each side. This can be used for recording audio and enabling incoming voice calls. The loudspeaker is on the left for listening to music and taking calls. The watch comes in one standard size of 44mm with a ceramic back, the charging port, and a heart rate monitor can also be found in the back.
The watch has Qualcomm chipset
The smartwatch is juiced by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 4G chipset with four Cortex A7 cores. It clocked 1.2 GHz doubled by 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. The smartwatch has an eSIM to support calls, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and NFC for payment. The watch should go on for 36 hours in one charge in cellular mode.
Mi Watch will track sleep, swimming performance, cycling and running while measuring the heart rate of the user. The watch also has its own digital assistance XiaoAI. The initial market price of the watch in China is CNY 1,299 will be available for purchase from next week. The company has not informed about the launch of the watch in the international market but it will, as usual, take the product to India, Singapore, Indonesia, and other countries in the coming times.
