The aim is to educate young people
The short video sharing site from China, Tik Tok has launched an education program in India. The company is looking forward to enhancing its services and smooth out the relationship with the local authority. It is first of its kind program that the company has launched in any market.
The platform comes under Bytedance, one of the top start-ups of the world informed that it is in huddle with numerous content providers and local companies to get more educational videos on the platform.
The short videos cover variety of subjects related to science, maths and provide guidance in learning a new language. It is also preparing the videos which will help people in their daily life like videos of health and psychological well-being and try to motivate people.
To reach more audience with better content
The social video sharing site got quite popular in India, as of now, there are 200 million users that use the platform to transmit or watch videos online through mobile app every month. The objective of the program is to encourage learning among young people who use the platform.
The company had made a partnership with Vedantu, Toppr, Made Easy, Gradeup the tech startups linked to learning to make educational videos for the platform. It is also collaborating with Josh Talks and the Nudge Foundation to train 5,000 people in India.
“The social apps foray into education is a response to the demand it has seen from users. Educational videos are some of the most popular and engaging videos on the platform globally,” said Sachin Sharma, Director of Sales and Partnerships at Tik Tok.
In the past few months, 10 million educational clips were made and shared on the app, as they have generated 48 billion views as told by Sharma. But he refused to share the details of financial aspect of thins with their partners who are responsible for educational content.
