‘Parasite’ Creates History
The most prestigious awards in the world cinema, the 92nd Academy Awards have been recently announced. Directed by Bong Joon Ho, Parasite created history as it became the first non-English language film to win the best film at the Oscars. The film bagged a total of 4 awards including for International Feature film, original screenplay, and the director. Furthermore, Universal’s 1917 secured three awards, for cinematography, sound mixing, and visual effects.
Three other films earned two honors each. ‘Joker’ by Warner Bros received in acting for Joaquin Phoenix and for original score. ‘Ford v Ferrari’ won for sound editing and film editing. The best actress award was claimed by Renee Zellweger for Roadside Attractions’ Judy. In the supporting actress category, Laura Dern won for Netflix’s Marriage Story. Moreover, Taika Waititi secured the adapted screenplay award for Searchlight’s Jojo Rabbit.
Other Significant Achievers
Oscar for the actor in a supporting role was bagged by Brad Pitt for Once Upon a time in Hollywood, while for visual effects, it was won by Guillaume Rocheron, Greg Butler, and Dominic Tuohy for 1917. Award for costume design was banked by Jacqueline Durran for Little Women and for makeup and hairstyle, it was collected by Kazu Hiro, Anne Morgan, and Vivian Baker for Bombshell. Josh Cooley claimed the Oscar for an animated feature film for Toy Story 4 while Matthew A., Cherry and Karen Rupert Toliver won it for Hair Love.
“(I’m gonna) Love Me Again” banked the award for the best original song, while Steven Bognar, Julia Reichert, and Jeff Reichert won the best documentary feature for American factory. Furthermore, Carol Dysinger and Elena Andreicheva won for ‘Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone’ in the Documentary Short Subject category. ‘The neighbor’s Window,’ directed by Marshall Curry received the award for the best live-action short film.
