One of the largest microblogging platforms, Twitter has recently appointed Parag Agrawal as its Chief Technology Officer. Agrawal is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B).
In 2011, Agrawal was hired as an Ads Engineer, replacing Adam Messinger, who later resigned in 2016. Last October, in a quarterly report, Twitter had presented its soaring profits, which were elevated by a whopping 20%. During the same period, Twitter had internally appointed Agrawal as its new CTO. Simultaneously, he took over the reins after the company’s operating chief, Anthony Noto announced his resignation.
Agrawal was awarded the title of a distinguished software engineer. He was previously employed as a research intern by Yahoo, AT&T, and Microsoft.
To his credit, Agrawal has expanded the applicability of tweets in Twitter timelines using AI. This high tech tool is also beneficial in managing the things that happen out of sight such as arresting social media abuse.
A representative from Twitter said, “In his capacity as CTO, he’s focused on scaling a cohesive machine learning and AI approach across our consumer and revenue product and infrastructure teams.”
Other social media giants such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft are also utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to magnify their internal tools and different segments of consumer services.
This is not the first time that Twitter has functioned without a CTO. Previously employed CTO’s namely, Greg Pass and Adam Messinger have resigned after May 2011 and March 2013 respectively.
