India has the second-largest base of internet users
The Japanese Consumer Electronic Giant, Panasonic introduced the IoT and AI-enabled platform ‘Miraie’. This will be the start of a new line of connected home devices for the Indian Market. The range might include connected air conditioners, smart doorbells, and switches. The company is estimating huge growth in demand as India has the second-largest base of internet users.
Panasonic is known for refrigerators and washing machines are quite optimistic about the sale of a new line of connected devices digitally connected to its IoT platform. One of the executives of the company said that the internet has become a basic need and the IoT enabled devices will not cost more to the consumers.
Enhance the quality of life through connected ecosystems
The company has spent almost a year in research and development of the platform Miraie and it will enable different rage of electronics to get connected and interact with each other seamlessly. The company is expecting about 25% of its total sales come from IoT enabled devices by the end of 2021. President and CEO of Panasonic India, Manish Sharma while talking to the press put forward the vision of IoT enabled home appliances for the Indian market.
The estimated figure by the company and the timeline seem over-ambitious as the Indian market has shown slow growth towards the sale of connected devices. Mr. Sharma also said, “With the advent of 5G, IoT will be driving the next round of transformation in the digital world and is the future of smart, connected India. Consumers are looking towards IoT and AI-enabled solutions to enhance the quality of life through connected ecosystems.”
