Selto is all set to roll out in august
Kia Motors is looking to exports made in India Seltos to various markets like South America and Africa. Seltos is a mid-sized SUV that is manufactured in Andhra Pradesh. Selto is all set be launched in august. The manufacturing base has the capacity of produce 3 lakh units.
Monohar Bhat, India Head Marketing and Sales, Kia Motors, said, “We are looking at regions like South Africa, South America and South Asian countries for exporting Seltos. But it is going to be a small number as our main focus remains India.”
Europe and North America market will receive the cars from the South Korean plant. Production of Seltos has already started in Anantapur- based facility of Kia Motors India.
Initially, the company is looking to begin the production capacity of one lakh units per annum and then slowly increase the production up to three lakh per annum.
Bhat said, “We have started with a single shift… With another model launch expected over the next six months, our aim is to utilise full capacity (one lakh units) as soon as possible. After that, we may also scale it up to two lakh units.” Further, he said, around 23,000 booking for Seltos were received by the company.
Finance options for Seltos customers and its dealers
He further responded to questions about the second model, “Most probably it is going to be a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).”
The extended slowdown situation of the domestic market, the government should take some measure to reduce goods and services tax (GST) rates on automobiles and also start vehicle scrappage policy.
The company has joined hands with eight banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) to provide finance options to Seltos customers and its dealers.
Future offerings of the Kia (India)
The company is planning to introduce all kinds of vehicles in the future including pure electric models and hybrids models in the country and introduction any of such technologies depending on the market requirements.
Kia (India) would keep on selling diesel model cars beyond April, 2020. The diesel engine that company offers is BS VI compliant. The company feels the demand for diesel vehicles will be there and they are ready to offer what their customers demand.
