New Cloud Region
Google said on the 15th of July that it will launch its second Cloud region next year in Delhi, India. The cloud region will assist regulated businesses such as healthcare and financial services, as well as public sector organizations across the nation, in meeting their Cloud goals. In 2017, Google introduced the Mumbai area. The new cloud area will add to Google’s existing network, which now includes eight regions in the Asia Pacific and 22 internationally.
“At Google Cloud, our mission is to accelerate every organization’s ability to transform through data-powered innovation with leading infrastructure, platform, industry solutions and expertise designed to meet our customers where they are on their journey to the cloud,” said Rick Harshman, Managing Director, Google Cloud Asia Pacific.
Google cloud regions provide Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services to organizations in industries such as media and entertainment, retail, and manufacturing as the company’s clients in India develop and diversify.
Delhi cloud area to have 3 zones
Customers such as L&T Finance, Manipal Hospital Group, Reliance Mutual Fund, Royal Enfield, TechMahindra, Truecaller, and many more are using the Google Cloud Platform to provide high-performing and secure Cloud-based services to their users. To prevent service interruptions, the Delhi cloud area would be divided into three zones.
“2020 is already shaping up to be a great year for Google Cloud in India, and we look forward to helping businesses and governments solve their most complex challenges and create value for years to come,” said Harshman.
The area will also contain a range of important GCP technologies, provide lower latency to local users, and allow geographically distinct in-country disaster recovery for clients’ mission-critical applications when paired with the current region in Mumbai.
Google Cloud: A trusted partner
“With access to faster computing power, we can also onboard consumers more efficiently. Our rural businesses have clocked a disbursement CAGR of 60 percent over the past three years,” said Sunil Prabhune, Chief Executive-Rural Finance, and Group Head-Digital, IT and Analytics, L&T Financial Services. Customers in over 150 countries now rely on Google Cloud as a trusted partner to address their most important business challenges. “A Delhi cloud region shows we are working with a cloud provider that shares our commitment to high-quality in-market and multinational services,” said Mukesh Rathi, CIO and Chief Digital Officer of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.
