Recently, the Indian Government announced a ban on 118 Chinese apps due to “engaging in activities prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, Defense of India, and security of the state and public order”. In the list of banned apps, PubG-mobile was listed too. India was PUBG’s biggest market before the game was blacklisted, with more than 175 million downloads to date.
Right after the PUBG ban, an alternative of the game called FAU-G was launched on 4th September 2020.
FAU-G (Fearless and United Guards)
Since the government began banning Chinese mobile applications, the Indian app community has been trying hard to construct alternatives to these apps. The—speculated multiplayer action— game called FAU-G (Fearless and United Guards) is expected to be the replacement for PUBG-mobile.
The game was officially announced from the twitter handle of Indian actor Akshay Kumar. According to the information provided, the players will be dressed in the Indian Army uniform. Likewise, the game is also anticipated to teach about the sacrifices of Indian soldiers. Furthermore, 20% of the game profit will be added to the ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ Trust—a charity initiative for the Indian soldiers.
Creation of nCore Games
FAU-G is the creation of nCore Games. nCore is a mobile games and interactive entertainment company, based out in Bangalore, India. It creates and publishes category-defining mobile games for the Indian market. It primarily develops multi-player games with immersive storylines that have a strong connect with Indian ethos. nCore Games also publish games from top global studios for the Indian market.
What to expect from the game?
For now, it remains unclear if FAU-G will be a multiplayer battle royale title like PUBG mobile. Games of this genre are challenging to construct as they require solutions to problems in packet loss, hit detection, internet lag, etc. It took Tencent Games, almost 2 years to complete the mobile version for PUBG. On the contrary, Gondal’s team has been developing FAU-G since May, and the game is expected to launch by the end of October. The first level of the game is speculated to be the Galwan Valley Backdrop.
FAU-G can sail without hurdles if it matches the long set quality level of PUBG. Besides, the initiative of Galwan valley might prove as a game-changer.
