Location and Investment of the Data Centre
Equinix has opened the PE3 data centre in Perth, as a part of its International Business Exchange. PE3 is the company’s 18th IBX in Australia, and it strengthens Perth’s position as the digital gateway between Australia, the Asia–Pacific region, and the Middle East, with an initial expenditure of $71.7 million.
Major Effects of the Launch
The introduction of PE3 in Australia, according to Guy Danskine, Managing Director of Equinix Australia, is another key milestone for Equinix. Perth has become a vital gateway for digital expansion and collaboration into the Asia–Pacific and the Middle East. “The West Australian market has experienced substantial growth driven by the acceleration of digital transformation across industries. Digital leaders are increasingly coming to Equinix to access all the necessary essential infrastructure required to create a digital advantage,” said Danskine.
As Perth is a vital digital entry and exit point into and out of Australia, this launch by Equinix provides users with a modern digital approach to their trading and transaction gateways. The security Equinix with the incitement to invest more in the APAC trading platforms aims for short and long term benefits.
Multiple undersea cables, notably the Australian Singapore Cable (ASC) and Indigo Cable systems, are directly accessible from the Equinix campus in Perth. Customers in Perth can now connect directly to worldwide and local cloud service providers in Australia, such as Alibaba, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud, SAP Cloud, and IBM Cloud, as well as major network service providers such as Telstra, Optus, and Vocus.
Equinix Profit Stance after the Investment

Equinix now has a national footprint of 18 IBX data centres throughout Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, and Brisbane, thanks to the acquisition of PE3. Platform Equinix comprises more than 235 data centres across 65 metros and 27 countries.
