Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine Applied for the emergency use authorization of its coronavirus vaccine in India. It is the first company to do so as India is the second-highest number of infections in the world. The recently approved Britain vaccine approached Indian authorities on Saturday. VK Paul said on Saturday, “We welcome interest from Pfizer to seek emergency licensure in our country.”
Paul also said that generally, the drug regulator of India takes nearly up to 90 days to decide on such applications. Nevertheless, it is expected that a conclusion on Pfizer’s vaccine could come much faster than that.
The vaccines developed by Pfizer and Moderna might not be available in large quantities, said Paul in November.
In a fight to control the Coronavirus, India hopes for the inclusion of five locally-tested vaccines. These vaccines mainly include the ones developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University.
India’s climate challenging for the storage of Pfizer vaccine?
Industry experts have stated that despite there being some old storage facilities in India, the Pfizer shot might find it a bit difficult in the Indian circumstances for its storage. Since, the Pfizer shot needs to be stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius (-94 F) or below, the storage is supposed to be grim in the Indian environment.
India has reported more than 9.57 million COVID-19 cases that made India the world’s second-highest after the United States with approximately 140,000 deaths.
