Aero India 2021 Event: Featuring USA fighter jets & Tejas

Aero India, Asia’s biggest defence and aerospace exhibition will be having its opening ceremony on the 3rd of February, Wednesday. The 13th edition of this international air show is organized by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). This air show is scheduled to take place at Air Force Station Yelahanka, in Bengaluru from 3rd to 5th of February.

The Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the 3-day air show exhibition. This will be the first show to be held in hybrid mode due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic. Participants do have both the options to attend this aerospace exhibition either physically or virtually.

The Highlight of Aero India 2021:

  • Total exhibitors- 600
  • Total Indian exhibitors- 522
  • Total foreign exhibitors- 78
  • Total virtual exhibitors- 203
  • Total countries participating- 14

Tejas Deal Updates: 

Aero India

The air show will commence with 47,000 crores of the deal for 83 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), Tejas for the Indian Air Force (IAF). The logo of Aero India is inspired by Tejas LCA; a tri-colored shaped logo with the Ashok chakra in the middle represents the Tejas LCA.

The Cabinet Committee on Security last month agreed to pass a bill on the manufacturing of 83 LCA jets. This includes 10 LCA Tejas MK-1 trainer aircraft and 73 LCA Tejas MK-1A fighter aircraft. According to R. Madhavan Head of Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL), the deliveries of 83 LCA Tejas would begin 36 months from the signing of the contract and the delivery of all 83 jets would take around 6 years to complete. 

USA to Feature 3 Fighter Planes in Aero India:

Three of United States’ fighter jets F-15, F-18 & F-21 have been offered to the Indian Air Force (IAF), to be part of this international air show. The supersonic heavy bomber, B1-B from the US will make its debut first time in India at the inaugural ceremony.
