Singapore Airlines (SIA) opened the first flight between Singapore and New Zealand on May 2, 1976. On 2nd May 2021, it’s been a 45-year long relationship between the two countries. Singapore Airlines operates through a Boeing 707 fan-jet via Sydney. Auckland entered the Singapore Airlines network at the same time as major international destinations Paris and Dubai. Singapore Airlines had expanded its activities in New Zealand to three cities. Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington in early 2020. It was running 26 weekly flights between New Zealand and Singapore. Air New Zealand operated an additional 12 services as part of the close alliance relationship the two airlines have established during the last four and a half decades. Singapore Airlines has continued to run drastically in the pandemic. With the decreased passenger services to New Zealand. Enabling New Zealanders to safely return home. SIA also expanded the number of Cargo-only flights to New Zealand. It also helps in assisting in the delivery of the country’s first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. SIA has supplied critical medical supplies to New Zealand including 9,000 tonnes of goods. 1,000 tonnes of PPE, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and COVID-19 research kits. Singapore Airlines aided New Zealand exporters by transporting over 10,000 tonnes of cargo to its global network. It includes over 3,000 tonnes of the country’s popular beef, fruit, vegetables, and fresh seafood.
